Northville Commons Real Estate Sales Report in February 2016

Is hardwood or carpet best for house resale?  Our professional opinion is that hardwood flooring is your best bet.  We have seen values drop when the home has laminate floors and most people replace carpet when they purchase (thus throwing away however much you spent).  The DiMora Team are real estate experts in the Northville and Novi neighborhoods and what we usually suggest is the wide plank distressed floors, and the stain would depend on how light or dark your home is.  In the bedrooms we prefer wood floors and believe it adds to the value and the home.  In order to warm up the bedrooms, throw down a throw rug so when you or the new owner gets out of bed you have something soft to step on.  Carpet seems to wear so poorly nowadays and we are seeing it less and less.  Tile floors or travertine/stone looks great in an entry way, bathrooms as well as the kitchen – anyplace where there is water, stone/tile/travertine is your best bet.  Today, we are seeing the large tiles, about 24 x 24 – and a lot of designers are putting them in on a diagonal slant which adds character and looks amazing.  Check out below to see what sold in Northville Commons in February 2016:
