What is a reasonable price to offer on a house for sale that you want? The asking price should never dictate what the offer is…that should be determined by what the market value of the property is. For example if the home is worth $200,000 and they’ve priced it below market value in an effort to sell it quickly then an offer above asking price may be in order depending on whether there are other offers, etc. But if the home is only worth $175,000 and the home is over-priced then $175,000 would be the number to use as your starting point.
