If you need to sell your house and you have an unfortunate bad view next to or across from it, what can you do? First, before putting your home on the market, make it the one to die for. Make it so desirable that it will stand out as the best house in the area and folks will want to buy it even with the bad view. The DiMora Team are real estate experts in the Novi and Northville neighborhoods and another suggestion we have is you might try planting trees or hedges on your property to block at least some or all of the view. Be sure and check the local codes or HOA rules to make sure that you aren’t planting something illegally. Also, if the view is a poorly maintained home, approach the neighbors and see if there is anything you can do to help them clean up their property. Since possibly none of this will work you may have to just live with the situation and take your chances with a lower that desirable sale price. In real estate, there’s the old saying – location, location, location. If you have a bad location, it will almost certainly affect what you receive in your ultimate sales price.
