If you use a Realtor to list your home, do you have to use the same Realtor to purchase another home in a different area of your town? The DiMora Team are real estate experts in the Novi and Northville neighborhoods and we suggest you read your agreements with your Realtor carefully. If you have a buyer agency agreement, the contract may specify which part(s) of town your Realtor will show you (or exclude). If they work in the distant part of the city, you may be committed to working with them. If they do not work in the distant part of the city, you are free to work with another Realtor. If you do that, make sure both Realtors know that you are working with the other for different areas of the city, and in your agreements, specifically exclude parts of the city that each Realtor will not be involved with. However, you will be giving your listing agent a chance to represent you on two deals and possibly get a discount on commission or you’ll be offering them a referral fee opportunity on the referral to another agent which will make them happy as well.
