When touring homes, keep an eye out for signs of foundation problems. Keep an eye out for horizontal cracks in the foundation itself, gaps above windows and doors and sunken porches or stairs. Many buyers run for the hills when they think a home’s foundation isn’t structurally sound, but you don’t need to immediately rule out a house if you believe it has foundation problems.
